The Federated States of Suźon (in Suvile: i-Kald Kasemele Suźone), usually called simply Suźon (meaning "Our Land"), is by far the largest and most populous country in all of Idzon. In recent years, it has also become the economic, cultural, and scientific center of the world, due both to its sheer size as well as the open and free atmosphere in most of its 19 member states. This, combined with its central location on the Eastern Continent, has made Suźon the dominant power among the nations of Idzon.

[edit] Geography of Suźon
Suźon covers the bulk of the Eastern Continent, stretching nearly 4,000 miles from the Agor Dorvele and Ganzon Mountains in the west to the Agor Mond in the east. From north to south the country's width averages over 1.500 miles, bordered on the north by the Xatawset and Alajon ranges, and on the south by the Avamindet. The Liwt Þilu (literally, "Twilight Bay") marks the southwest extent of Suźon.
There are five major rivers in Suźon; from west to east they are: the Nend, Eril, Umu, Śezil, and the Kala. All five rivers flow eastward, with the Nend, Eril, and Umu rivers running into the inland sea called Agor Źonir, and the Śezil running out of it. The Kala runs out of the Alajon Mountains, meeting the Śezil on the plains of Brenor, at its capital Duvlur. The combined rivers run into the Agor Mond at the capital of Isal, Valorre. Lakes can be found throughout Suźon, mostly in the east, Most of the small rivers and streams in the country are also found in the east.
Most of the land of Suźon is temperate plains or grassland, going downhill from the Ganzon. There are hills and small mountains in the interior, but the mountains are usually isolated rather than in ranges. The Albad Mindelir, the "Desert at the Mountains' Feet", covers much of the northwest of Urvele, while the other major desert region, Albad Andane, lies in southern Brenor. No part of Suźon is far enough north to find tundra or permafrost, and no part is south enough for a jungle or rainforest.
[edit] History of Suźon
Suźon, as a nation, only has a history of 140 years, though the land has been settled for over 8,000. Each member state has its own history, whether it was a sovereign nation, a kingdom, or a band of hunters. Thus this section will only be concerned with the history of Suźon itself, from its original alliance, through the formation of the Suźon Federation, through the present. More detailed histories of the member states can be found on their pages.
[edit] Brenore Alliance
Throughout most of the third century UK, raiders from the Ganzon mountains invaded and controlled much of what is now Suźon. The Suźone people defended their homelands, and eventually drove back the invaders. This period of warfare and occupation, with its myriad battles, is known as the Garzone Wars. The Garzoni, as the barbarians were called (their own name is not recorded), conquered all of Suźon west of the Umu and Eril rivers, and eastward as far as present-day central Brenor.
The Brenore people revolted during these wars, overthrowing and exiling their king due to his failure to take action against the invasion. In 247, the newly democratic Brenor sent envoys to its eastern neighbors, Isal, Kelin, and Vene, as well as the coastal nation of Luxan, asking for the aid needed to repel the raiders. Over a year later, help arrived, in the form of four armies. The five nations entered into an alliance, joined in 262 by the exiled king, who had inherited the throne of Mindete, which remains the only monarchy in Suźon to this day.
The Allied armies at first did little to stop the Garzone tide, but in 252 they won their first major victory at the town of Tælidon, on the southeast extent of the Agor Źonir. This was followed by the Battle of Palera, some 200 miles to the south, in 253. By 255, the Garzone had been pushed back to the Umu River. Mindete drove off the armies in the north by 261. By 279, the Garzone raiders had been destroyed everywhere east of the mountains from whence they came. Their city of Tèlya, at the base of those mountains, remained, though under siege until 283.
[edit] Civil War
The Brenore Alliance remained intact even after the Garzone threat was eliminated. After Tèlya was taken in 283, peace returned to the land. For almost 75 years, the six Nations of Suźon, as they were now called, lived in relative quiet. In 355, that peace was shattered, not by invaders, but by an internal threat. In that year, Madalo Abiekon rose to the throne in Mindete. His goal as king was simple: to take back his rightful land. Calling himself the rightful ruler of both Mindete and Brenor, he declared war on the remainder of the Alliance. Though his plan of taking on five countries at first seems foolish, the king used his enormous wealth as well as the divided faith of the Brenore people, to instigate a religious war. Abiekon himself professed that he cared nothing for gods, but he knew that the followers of Vanasom, a religion imported from far to the south, had feelings of both perscution and a right to rule. Through various means, Abiekon convinced the Suźone leaders of Vanasom that he would rule as one of them, if only they would rise up against the usurpers of Brenor.
This plan worked, since the Vanasome had the power of unwavering belief on their side, and the king had the power of thousands of mercenaries on his. A civil war erupted in Brenor, taking over in 358. Abiekon took this opportunity to march into Isal, catching them mostly at unawares. Isal fell in 360, Kelin in 362. Vene and Luxan refused to take part in the war, trying instead to diplomatically resolve the situation.
[edit] Birth of Suźon
Abiekon ruled over his new empire for twelve years, until he was assassinated in 374. By this time, the Vanasome had tired of their powerless "ruling" as vassals to the king. Taking advantage of his death without heirs, the Brenore people, both the followers of Vanasom and the believers of the pantheon, declared themselves the Independent Republic of Suźon. Within three years they liberated the two nations Abiekon had conquered, driving the royalists back to Mindete.
The three nations, Brenor, Isal, and Kelin, entered into another alliance in 377, this time made permanent. The next year, Vene and Luxan were admitted to the alliance, and the five nations, now unified under a constitution, called themselves the members of the Federation of Suźon. Over the next 100 years, 13 more nations (mostly peacefully) agreed to enter the new federation. In 414, the city of Kiblor was named the capital of the Federated States of Suźon, as well as a member. Thus the present union of 19 member states was complete.
